History / Family

  

 In-Step fashions is a family owned and oriented business spanning three generations. Mary Morin established the shop in 1986. Since, her daughter Mary Eckert took ownership of the store in 1992. Mary is a graduate of Fredericksburg High School and Tarleton University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. 

 

 

 

  

 

 

  

 

 

Mrs. Morin, mother of seven,and avid shoe-lover, realized that there were no businesses devoted to providing shoes to the Fredericksburg community. Thus, In-Step was born. It wasn't long before the store branched out into apparel and accessories. Through the years the family had a $10 or less franchise and an In-Step location in Kerrville, TX. Sam Morin Sr. saw the importance of a downtown location and acquired the historic property in 1991. This is In-Step's current location. The historic building was constructed in 1860 and it has served as a grocery/general store, soda factory, auto shop, and site of worship for a mission congregation.  

 While in the store, you may see Mrs. Morin strolling through the store, in her high heels, shopping for a new outfit. Mr. Morin passed in 2012 after 64 years of marriage.
